About Us

SWIET MOFFO moves with the times.

DIAKI SWIET MOFFO is an exotic and dynamic company. It is a family run company that has continued its culinary traditions through the generations.
We have brought exotic and original products to the Dutch market under the brand name SWIET MOFFO since 1984. SWIET MOFFO means “tasty mouth”, in other words, someone who really enjoys their food. SWIET MOFFO began as a hobby and became the first Surinamese factory in the Netherlands making the best Marinades, Hot Sauces, Spice Mixes, Peanut Sauces, and other delicacies. All our products are made with the greatest care and from the finest ingredients. Using our specialist skills and knowledge, we guarantee the supply of excellent exotic products known for their quality.

A piece of history.
On 1 May 1984, Reginald Olivieira en Lous Olivieira-de la Fuente started their trading company DIAKI. Though an all round welder by trade, Reginald’s greatest hobby was cooking and he started making Sweet Soy Sauce and Spicy Surinamese marinades in his kitchen. These marinades were particularly delicious. He gave so many away to family and friends, the demand was so high, that the idea was born to market these marinades.
The next step was to find a suitable name, and this was quickly found when Lous asked Reginald, who was busy cooking ‘what are you doing, my SWIET MOFFO?’ From this pet name meaning ‘tasty mouth’ the brand name was born.
Production did not remain with only marinades. Demand for new flavours increased, and the product range was regularly added to. All the new flavours and products were made with just as much love and enthusiasm as the original marinades, and soon included products such as: Hot Peppers, Sambals, Chinese sausages, Fashon Chicken – the one and only in the Netherlands – and Pork.
The kitchen soon became too small for the production of so many foodstuffs, and even the shed, which was converted into a production unit, no longer met the demand. The search for a suitable location was on and the enterprise moved again. But after seven years, even the new premises in Amsterdam Osdorp grew too small, and the next move was to a more spacious premises in Amsterdam North.

Meanwhile, more products were developed to strengthen the range. New products included Satay and Gado Gado Peanut Sauce, Spicy Peanut Butter, Sweet and Sour Limes and Pickled Limes. The herb mixes and herb butters made their entrace too.
After many years of production in Amsterdam North, we moved again, this time to our own premises which is far more spacious and more practical. An ideal prospect for the future.

Vision, improvement and renewal

The consumer is our best source of tips. Consumers know exactly what they like, and we make it our business to supply their enthusiastic demands. Luckily the demand for our products keeps increasing. We can no longer imagine a supermarket, tropical products shop, or specialist shop without SWIET MOFFO products. More and more often, when we are at trade fairs or give demos in supermarkets, our customers tell us about their culinary experiences. They tell us that if they use a product from a brand other than SWIET MOFFO, they have to either add extra spices to give it flavour, or use the entire pot in one go.
We have noticed this too. Through the years, we have seen that our competitors have tried to imitate SWIET MOFFO products in one way or another. However, it seems that rather than trying to make a good quality product, they maintain the low quality and often the quantity of ingredients too in order to sell at a lower price on the market. Luckily we can assure all our clients that all SWIET MOFFO products are well spiced and concentrated. You only need a little and this makes it cheaper to use.
About 75% of the SWIET MOFFO users are consumers in the Netherlands. SWIET MOFFO is exported all over the world and we receive positive reactions from people who use our products in countries as diverse as Russia, the Philippines, Morocco, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Italy, England, and also countries like Brazil in Latin America.
One reaction from a lady in the Philippines was that they use the same herbs and spices there, but that we Surinamese use them differently. An Italian gentlemen wrote to tell us that he thought that we only ate rice and did not know pasta, but that he likes our pasta better because it is stir fried with a marinade and dry herb mix.
It is now time for something new, and our SWIET MOFFO will soon have a baby sister. TAPA will be DIAKI’s second in-house brand. TAPA will not only be available in European countries and produce the flavours of the spices’ country of origin, but will also leave its traces outside Europe. Every country has its own individual flavours, and thus TAPA will travel around the world with its own authentic and unique dry herb mixes. TAPA was successfully launched on the Dutch market during a home and garden show there in 2006. We thank Our Heavenly Father that He has given us so many ideas and achievements. He gives us new vision, improvements and renewal every day. And every day we ask for new love and inspiration in Jesus’ name.
